Lyle Nutt, the oldest of 10 children, was born and raised near San Antonio, Texas in a devout Southern Baptist family. He made his profession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at age 14 while attending a small country church – Borregos Baptist Mission – south of San Antonio. After graduation from Texas A&M University, Lyle entered active duty with the US Army where he served 26 years as an Infantry Officer and Helicopter Pilot.
Retiring from the Army to his home state of Texas, Lyle entered the civilian work force in the aerospace industry, later moving to the Space Coast for a position as Director of Flight Operations with a Department of State contractor working in Central and South America. In his subsequent “retirement”, he has served two years each as high school teacher at Merritt Island Christian School and as Juvenile Probation Officer in Brevard County, and now is an academic instructor at the Bristow Academy (helicopter school) in Titusville.
A member at NWBC since 1997, Lyle has served as ‘volunteer’ choir director, Bible Study leader, Sunday School Director, and Adult Sunday School Class leader, a position he has held for ~9 years.
